Robert A. Thompson, Jr., M.D., FACS, is a skilled urologist with The Urology Specialists of Maryland at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore. He specializes in patients with prostate disease that require surgery. Using minimally invasive techniques like robotic surgery, Dr. Thompson typically provides results with less pain and recovery time than traditional procedures. Dr. Thompson has been recognized as a "Top Doctor" in Urology by Baltimore magazine.

Dr. Thompson is a member of the American Urological Association and Associate Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of The American Medical Association, Maryland Urological Association, and the Baltimore City Medical Society.

Dr. Thompson has been presented with an Award of Merit by Health Care for the Homeless as well as a Certificate of Merit by the Society of University Urologists. 

Loyal to the Local Region and Community

Dr. Robert Thompson has proven his commitment to the Baltimore region and community through his education and continued practice. He received his medical degree at the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Medicine in 1988. He completed his surgical training at nearby St. Agnes Hospital and his urological training at the University of Maryland. Dr. Thompson completed a Fellowship in Urology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1992. He continues his mission to serve those of Baltimore as a critical member of the Mercy Medical team.
