Gary J. Kerkvliet, M.D., is a Board Certified Primary Care Doctor at Mercy Personal Physicians at Lutherville, a Mercy Medical Center Community Physician Site. In his primary care practice, Dr. Kerkvliet treats adults from Lutherville, Timonium, Cockeysville and Hunt Valley for their acute and chronic conditions.
Dr. Kerkvliet is passionate about helping patients have the healthiest lifestyle possible by getting to the root of their conditions. His patients appreciate his caring spirit, good humor and natural ability to listen.
Respected Teacher of Primary Care
Dr. Gary Kerkvliet has held numerous teaching positions including being appointed as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. He served on the full time teaching faculty, Department of Medicine, at The Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh and Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. While completing his primary care training, Dr. Kerkvliet was Chief Medical Resident in the Internal Medicine Training Program at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine on the Sinai Hospital campus.
Recognized for Primary Care Expertise
Dr. Gary Kerkvliet has been recognized for his expertise as a primary care physician. He was named to Baltimore magazine’s "Top Docs Up and Comers" in 2000 and received the Golden Apple Award from Sinai Hospital’s Department of Medicine for Excellence in Teaching.
Dr. Gary Kerkvliet believes in giving back to the community. He has provided primary care to men living in a shelter through the Light of Life Mission and to the homeless through Operation Safety Net. Dr. Kerkvliet also was a volunteer at a weekend program for inner-city children.
During his leisure time, Dr. Kerkvliet enjoys reading, especially classics and fiction, classical music and cinema as well as tennis and softball.
